During a weekend trip from Manchester to Edinburgh, it was by pure chance that we ended up waiting for a train at Preston Station. We’d made a mistake on which platform was which in Manchester Piccadilly and ended up missing our direct train to Edinburgh. They changed our tickets to route us through Preston and connect back up with the right train there.
