I had just wrapped a shoot for Evry7th and was making my way back to the car with my lovely assistant Darrell Edwards when who did I see? None other then Colin Mochrie. Before I tell the story I should preface it with some info. When I was about 14, Comedy Channel Canada was showing “Whose Line Is It Anyway UK” (WLIIA) everyday for an hour starting just about as soon as I put my foot in the door after getting home from school. Instantly I was a fan and without question that show shaped my sense of humor. Colin Mochrie was a huge part of that.

Fast forward to last Saturday. We’re walking down the road and suddenly, Colin Mochrie. The conversation went something a little like this.

CP: (in exuberant voice) I KNOWS YOU!

CM: Oh, heh heh yeah, hah ‘Hi’.

CP: What are you doing in St. John’s?

CM: Oh just visiting.

CP: Ah, awesome. Hey, when is Whose Line coming back?

CM: Oh I dunno.

CP: Too bad, too bad.  You need to bring it back.

CP: (in crazy exuberance) HEY! I’m a photographer! (looking at Darrell) Take our picture, take our picture!

— It should be noted that at this point, I’m just a tiny bit starstruck. It should also be noted that “tiny bit” is a major, major understatement. —

Apologetically I ask if it’s OK and I don’t even really recall if he said yes, nor did I care, it was happening regardless. CM at this point seems a little taken aback. His wife however is laughing and seems flattered.

Darrell proceeds to take the picture.

CP: Hey! Let’s do the raptors!

CM: Not on an empty stomach, I haven’t even had dinner yet!

At this point we broke off and left. We had things to do and I’m sure CM was tired of my harassment at this point.
