Middle Cove Cliffs

Cape St. Mary’s Coastline

11x14inches • $125

Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve is home to one of Newfoundland’s largest seabird colonies. The short hike out to Bird Rock, where this photo is taken from, is well worth it when you’re treated to a view like the one above… if it’s not foggy that is. :-)

Lights in a Cove

11x14inches • $100

This is one of my favorite photos. The jet black silhouette of the Blackhead cliffs against the deep blues of the ocean which leads into a touch of city light. All complimented nicely by a pink summer’s sunset.

Where was this taken? East End, St. John's viewed from Cape Spear

Cape Spear Barrens

11x14inches • $100

Cape Spear is the most easterly point in all of North America. It’s also one of the most beautiful places in all the world. The area is just filled with little hideaways where you can relax with a friend, take in the sunrise and enjoy the view.

Rainbows Over Torbay

11x14inches • $90

When I saw this massive rainbow happening right over my home town of Torbay, Newfoundland I grabbed the camera and began sprinting to snap the picture I had in mind. When I got there, I realized it was not one but two rainbows… worked out quite nicely if I do say so myself.

Cataracts Waterfalls 3

11x14 inches • $75.00

The bridge at the provincial park was build a long time ago and has been upgraded since, even still, it’s about as old a bridge as I’d like to cross over :).

Where was this taken? Cataracts Provincial Park near Colinet.

Cataracts Waterfalls 2

11x14 inches • $75

Another take on the awesome waterfalls at Cataracts.

Autumn Waterfalls

11x14 inches • $90

This a waterfall photo shot in the fall of the year. Such a tranquil place to sit by the brook and relax in the crisp fall airs. The colors in this photo are especially great as the water only further saturates the colors here.

Where was this taken? Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland.

Cataracts Waterfalls 1

11x14 inches • $75

This place is awesome and only truly appreciated in person. Enjoy.

Crazy Old Town

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is one of my personal favorites of St. John’s. I love the color, the madness and the feel of it. Immediately after shooting it I knew I had something good. It pleases me to offer it up for sale in my shop and I hope you like it too.

Where was this taken? St. John's, Newfoundland

The Bell of the Bay

11x14 inches • $90.00

This colorful picture of Bell Island taken from near Bauline. It’s a vantage point not often seen by most and I think it’s kind of neat to see the island almost backwards from what we usually see from the C.B.S side.

The Rock

11x14 inches • $90.00

Looking at photos like this make me wonder why the heck it was that anyone actually decided to settle here anyway. The easiest way to we chose to describe the island of Newfoundland when asked is usually “it’s just a rock in the ocean” and photos like this just help prove that notion.

Stars in St. John’s

11x14 inches • $150.00

I love photos which show the stars, especially ones which show the stars in motion… something we can’t actually see with our own eyes. The passage of time displayed in this photo is a simple reminder that as the great Canadian band Trooper once said: “We’re here for a good time, not a long time.”

Bell Island Sunset

11x14 inches • $90.00

Ah, the unmistakable silhouette of Bell Island. Blanketed by the warm setting sun it’s a familiar site to all those who’ve made the evening trip home via the ferry.

Curzon Village

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is a photograph of an old wharf in Curzon Village which lays at the entrance to Bonne Bay in Newfoundland. In the distance you can see Rocky Harbour and Norris Point.

If you’re looking for a colorful photo of Newfoundland, then you’ve found it. The pinks and blue hues together combine for some awesome eye candy.

Bonne Bay

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is one of the most relaxing places in all the province. The warm gulf air and the high hills combine to make it simply a beautiful place to visit or live. The bay stretches so far inland that you begin to forget it’s saltwater.

Featured in this photo is the passenger ferry which takes you from Woody Point to Norris Point on the other side of the bay.

Western Brook Pond I

11x14 inches • $75

The boat tour up Western Brook Pond is breathtaking. The size and scale of the mountains through which once crawled a massive glacier is just too hard to comprehend. Just so you can tell how big these cliffs are, there’s a massive boat in the bottom of the picture. Yeah, they’re that big.

Where was this taken? Western Brook Pond, Gros Morne, Newfoundland

Petty Harbour Stage

11x14 inches • $90.00

Petty Harbour, Newfoundland is a little sheltered community right next door to St. John’s. It’s a quiet place with a rich history in the fishing industry. This is a photo of a typical waterside stage right in the bottom of the harbor itself.

Where was this taken? Petty Harbour, Newfoundland.

Tablelands

11x14 inches • $90.00

Easily one of the most amazing places on this planet is the geological rarity knon as the Tablelands inside Gros Morne National Park.

Where was this taken? Tablelands, Gros Morne, NL.

Newfoundlandia

11x14 inches • $100

What says Newfoundland more then having your drawers on the line and a flag on the pole?

Where was this taken? Outer Battery, St. John's, NL.

Relic of the Seas

11x14 inches • $140.00

We drove from St. John’s out the highway and the further away from town we were the heavier it was snowing. As we got to Avondale the visibility was almost nil but we pressed on.

We were here, so we might as well look. Having no idea this old ship was here we happened upon it by pure fluke and then the snow stopped.

With just 15 minutes of daylight left in the sky, everything was perfect for just one moment.

That’s when I took this photo.

Where was this taken? Lower Cove, Conception Harbour, NL

Middle Cove Sunset

11x14 inches • $90.00

Middle Cove is one of the many beaches near St. John’s. It’s a very common spot for a bonfire and a beer.

It’s also a fantastic place to spend an afternoon in the sun, relaxing as the sounds of the ocean take you away.

Rocky Isle In The Ocean

11x14 inches • $90.00

Part of me enjoys a miserable day more then a sunny one and this photo is an example why.

In the middle of a tropical storm I ventured out to Fort Amherst. The waves were coming in high and the rain was coming down hard.

I was wet and cold, but I was happy too.

Where was this taken? Fort Amherst, NL

Ferryland I

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is a different photo then you normally see of the historic Ferryland lighthouse and that’s one reason why it’s well liked.

It’s a simple yet charming, processed with a sepia like tone.

Where was this taken? Ferryland, NL

Passing Through Preston

11x14 inches • $60.00

During a weekend trip from Manchester to Edinburgh, it was by pure chance that we ended up waiting for a train at Preston Station. We’d made a mistake on which platform was which in Manchester Piccadilly and ended up missing our direct train to Edinburgh. They changed our tickets to route us through Preston and connect back up with the right train there.

Bell Island II

11x14 inches • $90.00

I like to think I cheated death to make this picture.

That’s because I’m deathly afraid of heights, but from time to time I tell my subconscious to ‘frig off’ for a moment whilst I stand too close to the edge of this 300ft drop to take a picture.

I didn’t hang around too long to find out if the rocks beneath me were as stable as I’d hoped, but they’d lasted just long enough for me to make this picture.

The Heart of St. John’s

11x14 inches • $160.00

No other photo in my entire collection means as much to me as this one. If you don’t know by now, St. John’s is a fantastic city and it’s culture and history means a lot to me.

Lovers At The Cape

11x14 inches • $90.00

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful places on the face of this blue dot is Cape St. Mary’s. One thing you should know is that it’s foggy just about 99% of the time you’ll visit.

However, the likelihood for poor weather is what makes the sunny days all the more enjoyable. You know it’s a rare occurrence, almost like winning the lottery.

On the middle of a large rock surrounded by ocean and blue sky, these two Northern Gannets displayed their affection. Not bothered by our proximity or the thousands up on thousands of flying spectators, they had not one concern in the world except each other.

Seams of Time

11x14 inches • $90.00

They say Bell Island is sinking. Don’t panic, it’s only about 1mm a year or something.

With this photo it’s not hard to see why though. Layers upon layers of sand, silt and stone are easily visible here, slowly eroding away.

I love the colors of those layers in this photo. Surprisingly, when originally processing all my photos from this day, this was one that was slated for the junk bin. It wasn’t until a few months later while searching for another photo from the same day that this one really struck me.

A St. John’s Scene

8x12 inches • $90.00

St. John’s is at it’s finest come night fall and I’m always looking to capture slices of that night life, be it the action or the feeling of emptiness.

Where was this taken? St. John's, NL.

Lawrencetown Beach II

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is a second photo from my short afternoon at Lawrencetown Beach back in 2007. This was a photo where I got particularly wet, my shoes were filled to the brim and my pants were wet to the knees. My tripod was leaking salt water for months afterward. This all would of been fine on a hot July afternoon, but it was April and cold, windy and chilly next to the water.

Where was this taken? Lawrencetown Beach, N.S.

Lawrencetown Beach

11x14 inches • $90.00

I got very wet this day. The waves were a little more deceiving then I’d thought and despite how it looks, it was very cold.

Lawrencetown Beach is a fantastic place in Nova Scotia and if you ever spend time in the Halifax area you must take a day and visit the beach.

This Old Boat

11x14 inches • $90.00

What’s more Newfoundland these days then an ole’ boat? Well, sadly, it’s an ole’ boat not getting put to good use.

While some might scoff and say “sure dat’s just an old boat b’y” I say look again, it’s more.

It’s a memory of the days gone by and a reminder of what we had and how not to lose it. It’s an emblem of where Newfoundland came from and where we all come from. We didn’t arrive on this island via horse and buggy. No, we sailed thousands of miles to a rock, in the middle of no where.

It might just be a picture of a boat, sure, but it’s a boat that tells a story.

Around Topsail

11x14 inches • $90.00

Topsail Beach is just one of those places everyone living in the North East Avalon knows and knows well.

Whether spending a Friday night having a bonfire or tempting the fate of your pant legs strolling along the waters edge, Topsail Beach is a fantastic way to get away from it all, right in the heart of the city.

This picture was shot using a Fisheye lens, which is where the “curved earth” look comes from. It’s an effect I do not use often because it’s so difficult to use and use well.

And yeah, my pant legs didn’t make it out dry.

Where was this taken? Topsail Beach, NL

Bell Island I

11x14 inches • $90.00

Every time I look at this picture it reminds me of Ireland. The way the fields meet the sea off in the distance and the sudden drop in the foreground.

This photo was the last from a short trip off the mainland that is the Island of Newfoundland :) It was rather unfortunate that it was the last, but the ferry was beckoning. The landscapes here are amazing and though stung, bitten and sneezing from flies, ants and pollen I was…

I could of stayed all day.

Lonestar-fish

11x14 inches • $90.00

This fine day brought me to what I’d consider one of the most enjoyable places on all the Avalon Peninsula, Cape St. Mary’s.

Unfortunately, like most days at Cape St. Mary’s the wind was South-Westerly and you couldn’t see the hand in front of your face.

Alas, I doubled back to a community called Branch. Growing up, I spent many a day fishing for sea trout off the wharf in Branch. It’s home to a lovely beach (pictured) and some of the friendliest people you’ll meet. Also, there’s a big basin where Branch River meets the sea. When it’s low tide the sheep will wander out on to the pods of grass. When it’s high tide, they’re like little castaways, alone on their islands.

They don’t seem to care.

Where was this taken? Branch, NL

Cape Spear at Dusk

11x14 inches • $120.00

This was one of those days in Newfoundland. You know the ones, too cold to even catch your breathe. On this day, for some reason I found myself not only out and about at sunset but as close to the Atlantic as one would like to be.

Let me tell you, the spray was cold. I ended up drenched to the bone, but was it worth it. One of my favorite photos is this one here. I’ve had people tell me it’s almost like a painting, the colors in the water and the pale blue sky with hints of pink.

Where was this taken? Cape Spear, NL

Once Upon A Time

11x14 inches • $90.00

This is one of my personal favorites. The black and white treatment I applied to this photo really shows off the aged detail of the barn and gives it that feel of desolation.

The Holy

11x14 inches • $90.00

Bay Bulls is about 20mins outside of St. John’s and it’s home to some of the best sub sandwiches ever at Paddy’s, which if it wasn’t for the scenery or bird & whale tours, would be worth the 20 minute drive alone.

This photo of St. Peter’s Church I shot back in 2006 still remains a favorite of all who view it.
