Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve is home to one of Newfoundland’s largest seabird colonies. The short hike out to Bird Rock, where this photo is taken from, is well worth it when you’re treated to a view like the one above… if it’s not foggy that is. :-)
If you’re ever in Newfoundland’s east coast, this should be on your “Must-See” list. It’s easily the most accessible seabird rookery in North America and Bird Rock is the third largest nesting site and southernmost colony of northern gannets in North America.
In my opinion, it’s one of the most relaxing and breathtaking places in Newfoundland and Labrador.
